Pure SENSUALITY, deserving of "all caps.Want to behold the glory that is ' Sahara' on your TV or mobile device at home? Hunting down a streaming service to buy, rent, download, or watch the Andrew V. But you cannot help but feel that her performance here outdoes others in more prominent films, and the on-screen performances of, say, Sharon Stone, Glenn Close, Kim Basinger, Kristin Scott Thomas, et al, in some of their work. There isn't a lot of story here, and none of the characters - including hers - evokes a lot of emotion or empathy. And the on-screen scenes where this attractive and thoroughly sensual young woman beds a variety of sweaty males in open locations, including on horseback, with others nearby around, or a horde of males, all over the place, as she visits one of them at an apartment in a busy plaza area - no viewer could escape the effect of viewing her attempt to satisfy her active libido in a thoroughly unabashed fashion. Whichever parent these two gals share passed on a large dose of "sensuality genes." With the earthy, realistic scenes in northern Africa, the literally hot weather on-screen, alone, could cause you to perspire if you were watching the film from inside a meat locker.
Likewise for her half-sister, Maria Schneider, Brando's co-star in the infamous "Last Tango in Paris" (remember the scene with the stick of butter in the Paris hotel bathroom).
I had never seen Fiona Gélin before viewing this movie, and haven't seen her since. The writers overstretch credibility by letting her travel on her own in skimpy outfits in a Muslim country even for a sexually adventurous character this goes a bit far, but Miss Gélin handles these problematic scenes quite well. Heart-breakingly gorgeous and cute as a button, she can still act well enough to get some sensuality across. The star of the show is undoubtedly Fiona Gélin. Still, his softporn rendition of a Jon Dough performance avoids the blandness we get from the other males. The males are mostly a bit dull, with the exception of Yves Collignon, who aims to ooze mysteriousness by putting on a stern look for most of his screen time it has to be said though that he is clearly overdoing it. The story works reasonably well, but this is not the kind of film where one would care much about it. There is not much of a story: our heroine, Lea, visits her boyfriend somewhere in Morocco, exploring her sexuality along the way and getting into a bit of a muddle that eventually requires drastic action. It is obvious that things have moved on from the 1970s - just the odd bit of nude flesh does no longer suffice, the required steam has to derive from the action, and here it does. Soft pornography was supposed to have been stone-dead by 1987, but the Italians still produced the odd piece of erotica here and there, and this picture by Aldo Lado is one of the best examples.
